Privacy policy

Last updated 18 July 2026

slotwash helps people share the washing machines in their building. It works best when it knows as little as possible about you, so it collects only what the booking and fairness rules actually need. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and there are no analytics or tracking SDKs in the app.

Who we are

slotwash is operated by the maker of slotwash.com. For anything in this policy, including data deletion, contact kamaljeetsahoo@gmail.com.

What we collect

DataWhy
Account identity — email address, display name, and (if you use Google sign-in) the basic profile Google returnsTo sign you in and show who booked what. Handled by our authentication provider, Clerk.
Your building ("PG") and roleTo scope everything you see to your building, and to know whether you're a resident, volunteer, or admin.
Bookings — machine, start time, duration, status, and the times you checked in, finished, and collectedTo run the schedule, release no-shows, and calculate your reliability.
Waitlist entries — position and claim windowTo offer a freed machine to the next person in line.
Good deeds — who moved whose laundry, an optional short note of where it went ("Bucket 12"), and whether it was confirmedTo tell you where your laundry went, and to award karma when you thank someone.
Reliability and karma scoresThe fairness system: reliability governs perks, karma is social recognition only.
Notifications — the alerts sent to you and their delivery stateSo each alert is sent exactly once and you can read it in the app.
Device push token — if you allow notificationsTo send "your wash is done" and "it's your turn" to your device. Stored only while you have notifications enabled.

What we do not collect

Who processes it

These providers process data on our behalf so the service can function. We don't sell or rent personal data to anyone, and we don't share it for advertising.

Who can see your activity

slotwash is a shared-building app, so some things are visible to other residents of your building only: your display name, which machine you have booked and when, your position in a queue, and good deeds involving you. Your reliability and karma scores, and your email address, are not shown to other residents. Nothing is visible across buildings.

How long we keep it

Account and building-membership data is kept while your account exists. Bookings, waitlist entries, good deeds and notifications are kept as long as they're useful for the schedule and the fairness scores. When you delete your account, we delete the data described below.

Deleting your account and data

You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing kamaljeetsahoo@gmail.com from the address you signed up with. We'll action it within 30 days.

This removes your account identity, your push token, your membership, and your bookings, waitlist entries, scores and notifications. Good deeds involving other people may be retained in an anonymised form (with your name removed) so that their karma record stays intact, since it reflects something they did.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how it's processed. Email us and we'll help. If you're in the EEA or UK, our lawful basis is performance of a contract (running the booking service you signed up for) and our legitimate interest in keeping the system fair and functional.

Children

slotwash isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with the providers named above. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app.
